Still alive

Still alive, just very busy at work and home…  Still working on SANVisum, in fact there’s a new screenshot of what the front page looks like now.  The install script is gone, replaced by a prereq script that tells users what to do.  And the install document has been revamped and is nearly complete.

Oops, gotta remember to commit more frequently.

Welp, in the middle of revising the install document (man it was looking good!), I was also adding functionality.  I didn’t commit for @ 3 weeks.  I whacked my svn cache on my local machine, and then couldn’t commit the updates.  I’ve been reading about Git and figured this would be a good time to convert.  So, now I’m converting the files from my working copy one at a time, and cleaning them at the same time.  Shouldn’t take too long, and at the end of this process, it should be nice, clean, and documented. :)

Revising the install document

Revisiting the install document, trying to streamline it, and adding all the stuff that’s been added to SANVisum since we wrote it some time ago.  I’m also writing it to install on OpenSuSE 12.1.  It would likely work on other distro’s, but you’ll need to understand the distribution you’re trying to install on.

IBM TS3500 config info added

Configuration information for TS3500 (IBM Tape library) has been added to the database, and is being finished. AIX OS device info and TSM drive info will be added soon, and a page showing the corresponding device information from all three entities will be added.

Brocade Switch Stats

SVN Revision 297 supports gathering some data from brocade fiber channel switches, and displaying the health of the switches themselves, via the data returned by “switchstatusshow”. There’s a new screenshot showing this in the screenshots section.

Released

Ok, it’s “official”, SANVisum is now available for installation.  Just remember, be gentle.  It’s not the best looking tool but it will get the job done.  If you are looking to report the configuration of an IBM SVC, and a Brocade fiber channel fabric/switch info, it will work.

I welcome any and all feedback.  You can send comments, questions, ideas for improvement to SANVisum

Thanks,

Al
